WELCOME TO THE HAMILTON SOCIETY

The Hamilton Society is an organisation which provides discourse for London-based, American and British centre-right conservative professionals. We do this through a series of intimate dinners and drinks receptions in exclusive locations with exceptional guest speakers from Washington, London, and beyond, in which we discuss pertinent issues of the day, especially as they pertain to the Anglo-American relationship.

WHO WE ARE

As the preeminent group for American conservatives in London, we attract senior GOP politicians and conservative commentators visiting the UK to speak at our events, as well as British Conservatives. This close interaction gives The Hamilton Society members an opportunity to meet and to exchange ideas on current events with influential figures in Washington and London, while also supporting the work of Republicans Overseas UK.

The inspiration behind our name

Alexander Hamilton played a vital role as one of the Founding Fathers of the United States of America and is the inspiration for The Hamilton Society’s name. He was adamant that a vibrant economy through healthy trade relations with Britain was essential to the national prosperity of the United States.

As the first Secretary of the Treasury, Hamilton played a critical role in US economic policy under George Washington, shaping the young nation’s commercial ties. Hamilton was also the founder of the Federalist Party, the United States Coast Guard, the Bank of New York, and the New York Post.

The Hamilton Society is an organisation within Republicans Overseas UK, a political organisation connecting Republican-voting Americans living in the UK to the GOP and to each other. We provide opportunities for our members to attend informative talks with guest speakers, social events such as our annual 4th of July celebrations, and to Get Out the Vote (GOTV) in support of the Republican Party at election time. We also advocate for change on non-partisan expatriate concerns such as citizen-based taxation and the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) as well as other tax regulatory burdens. Republicans Overseas UK does not donate money to political candidates or political parties.
